At the end of November we had our annual Humor Night, which has become a favorite tradition at RACU. This time each Department presented its team: “Positive hesitation” (Business and Economics Department), “STARbabs” (Language and Literature Department) and “Sesame Street” (Social Work Department). These teams compete in their cleverness and sense of humor, trying to win the sympathy of the jury and audience. They joked about everyone and everything in the University and the country. The spectators were in stitches throughout the performance. |

|
On November 25th the members of the Literature club “Classics Fans” organized a special event in honor of the famous Russian author Anton Chekhov. Our theatrical student group (in which the professors take part as well) prepared a drama based on the stories “Daughter of Albion” and “The Grasshopper.” The guests also had a chance to hear a presentation of two other stories: “The Clever Servant” and “The Complaints Book.” |

|
On the 3rd of October the Honors Program Initiation Dinner took place at Dr. Broersma’s apartment. This event opened the new season of the special Honors Program which is intended for those students whose grade point average is above 4,5. During this dinner they discussed the achievements of the previous year. Also, they presented plans for this semester – the students will visit several museums and expositions and go to the theatre. At the end of October they will have a retreat where they will discuss several books by famous American authors. |

During the last week of September the fifth Student Retreat took place at “Ruchejok” the Christian Center near Moscow. This event is a wonderful opportunity for making new acquaintances - the first year students can easily feel themselves as part of one big family at RACU. Sport games, various competitions and a time of fellowship around a camp fire help young people to build deep relationship which will continue throughout their years of study. |

|
On Saturday, 20th of September, twelve teams had an adventurous journey along the route of “Literary Moscow.” Tatyana Yaskova organized the third “City Adventure Game” giving a chance to every participant to discover previously unknown sights in the capital. This time all the chosen places were connected in one way or another with the lives of famous Russian or Soviet writers. In the competition took part not only RACU students, but also students from other universities.

What's New
|
For the RACU students this summer flew so quickly and it’s not surprising, considering their busy schedule during the holidays. Some of them worked as volunteers at social centers, others as translators at various seminars, some organized Summer English schools and so on. The fourth year students of the Business and Economics Department had their summer internship in different companies, banks, and firms. |

On May 31st RACU’s annual graduation ceremony took place. It is an important and exciting event, though with a slight sense of sadness – during four years of studying our university becomes a real home for the students and it is not easy for them to leave this friendly place.

On April 28th the Fourth Scientific Conference took place at RACU. This time the theme was “XXI century. Progress. Globalization. Communication». This event was organized by the RACU Students’ Scientific Society. Among the participants were our teachers and students, and guests. Those who could not come might send their research papers for publication in RACU’s annual academic magazine “Dialog.” |
