During April and May all willing students were invited to participate in a Vision and Personal Finance Seminar. Studying economic discipline is a benefit for everybody, not only for future businessmen. Clyde and Kathy Vollmers, visiting American professors, worked through materials on such timely topics, as “Debt and credit,” “Rational use of finances,” “Spending plan and budgeting your money,” “Tithing, gifts, and charity,” and others. Considering the economy situation in the world today this seminar was very useful and practical. |

On April 6 the Literature club had a special guest – Andrew Tavrov – the writer, journalist, script writer, member of Moscow Writers’ League and National Federation of Russian Writers. The topic for this week discussion, “Ways to analyze writing,” sounded scientific and therefore a little bit scary, but it turned out to be a very interesting meeting. Andrew Tavrov suggested that our young writers read together and analyze two poetic writings: one by Matsuo Baciyo and the other by Joseph Brodsky entitled “The Autumn Cry of the Hawk.” |

All people use rhetorical skills even without knowing it: we profit from it when want to pursue someone or talk out of something. “Every person must express his thoughts precisely, briefly and beautifully”, used to say the famous Russian scientist Michael Lomonosov. “Only this skill can build understanding among people.” Thus it is no wonder that the seminar on the basics of rhetorical skills evoked such interest: students were eager to participate in impromptu skits, prepare mini-speeches, pronounce tongue twisters, announce short informational messages and so on. |

The students’ newspaper “New Page” was started almost as soon as the institute began to function. Last year we celebrated the tenth anniversary of our periodical! During its existents the newspaper has changed many times in its design and content, because new editors and designers (among our students) each time came with new ideas and new vision. |

On February 18 at RACU a meeting took place with Pinhas (Peter) Polonskiy, religious thinker, author, Doctor of Philosophy and professor at Bar-Ilan University (Israel). He came in Moscow at the presentation of his new book “Two thousand years together – Hebrew attitude toward Christianity” but found some time in his busy schedule to come to us with a lecture about the general principles of correlation Judaism and Christianity in their historical perspective. |
