Deputy U.S. Ambassador Visits the Institute’s New Campus Print

On Tuesday, September 8, Eric Rubin, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow paid a visit to the Institute’s new campus facility. After a tour of the building, Mr. Rubin met with the Institute’s staff and discussed the recent visit by President Barack Obama, the current state of the US-Russian relations, and the importance of educational exchanges.

Dr. Bernbaum, the Institute’s President, shared with Mr. Rubin some of the Institute’s plans for the next stage in its development, including “next generation emerging leadership dialogues” with young American, Russian and possibly Chinese leaders. Increased faculty exchanges and the use of on-line courses were also discussed.

Since the Russian-American Institute is one of the only bi-national higher education programs in Moscow, it is positioned to play an increasingly important role in building cooperation between the two countries. With seven partner college and universities in the States, plus relationships with many other American liberal arts schools, the Institute is an educational bridge with a thirteen year history in the Russian Federation.
