«Together We Have the Power” |
|
On May 29 workshops were held as part of the annual VI International Moscow Conference, organized in honor of Dr. Fyodor Petrovich Haaz, in which representatives of various philanthropic, nonprofit, and government organizations exchanged ideas and experiences dealing with significant issues in their work. Among the speakers was Tatyana Lobacheva, deputy chair of the Social Work Department, and also director of the charitable foundation “River of Life,” which supports and organizes social and cultural programs for handicapped children and poor families.
“From the beginning we have been organizing joint projects with government organizations,” explained Lobacheva. “When nonprofit and state organizations work together, they have great power. Already we have done several programs for families in poverty and organized a club for teenagers. Now we are actively involved in another project: helping those who want to start a charitable organization. We provide consultations, support with legal issues, and, sometimes, financial support. We also work with volunteers to equip them through various training programs and seminars. Students are involved in this activity. Together we have the power to change Russian society for the better. None of us is born into this world to live for ourselves alone. We are responsible for developing and improving our society.” |
