Personal Finances Seminar |
|
During April and May all willing students were invited to participate in a Vision and Personal Finance Seminar. Studying economic discipline is a benefit for everybody, not only for future businessmen. Clyde and Kathy Vollmers, visiting American professors, worked through materials on such timely topics, as “Debt and credit,” “Rational use of finances,” “Spending plan and budgeting your money,” “Tithing, gifts, and charity,” and others. Considering the economy situation in the world today this seminar was very useful and practical.
Vollmers remarked, “When looking at finances from the perspective of funding God’s plan, making money doesn’t seem quite as evil. Most came into the seminar with an attitude that money is not important to them, they really don’t need much. But they were surprised by the analysis that failing to pursue finances because “I don’t need much” is just as selfish a response as being greedy. It just doesn’t give God the opportunity to bless others through you. Now they understand that money is simply one of many things that God has granted us in our privilege of stewardship of His creation.”
Throughout the series, the focus was on how the participants could incorporate the concepts into their lives. The Vollmers emphasized that heart attitudes toward money, work, stewardship, and God were more important than the knowledge. When the seminar concluded, students commented: “We have already made changes in our lives and we are excited about how we can use this material.” |
