“I have been honored to serve on the Board of Advisors of the Russian-American Institute since 1997. RAI is an extremely important educational and cultural bridge between the United States and Russia. Through its superb educational programs, it links citizens from both countries together and helps create understanding between Russians and Americans despite cultural differences. As a Member of the U.S. Congress, I have a deep understanding of the economic competitiveness and national security reasons to foster peace between the United States and Russia. The Russian-American Institute is building peace between people who share much in common, and that is why I am a strong supporter of this bi-national university. If we wish to have peace in the world, we need institutions like RAI to establish good relationships between Russia and the USA.”

“Our countries share much in common, including the desire for fellowship, learning, and mutually beneficial business relationships. It was education, scientific and cultural activities that drew us closer even in the times of difficult relationships between the two countries. The Russian-American Institute plays a significant role in strengthening the good-neighbor relationships between Russia and United States. The young people studying at the Russian-American Institute have a real understanding of the traditions and cultures of both Russia and America, and this gives them an ability to support each other and to bridge communication gaps.
I am convinced that the good work that is carried out by the Russian-American Institute is an advantage to us all and improves our international relations.”
Vladimir M. Platonov
Chairman,
Moscow City Duma
